thee sheik ba charagh hamee gasht gird-e--shahr
kaz deev-o-dud maloomam-o-insaanam aarzoost
zin hamrehaane sost anaaser delam gereft
sheer-e-khoda va rostam-e-dastaanam aarzoost
goftam ke yaft meenashavad joste im maa
goft anke yaaft meenashavad aanam aarzoost

with a little lantern in his hand
with wrinkled face 'n' trembling legs
he wanders 'round searching someone
"hey!old man!whom do u search?"
with a sigh he stares in my eyes
"i'm fed up with these dull and idle friends
fed up with these ghosts 'n' lifeless beings
searching for a man ,just a man
a man like Ali , the lion of god
or rustom whose steps would tremble the earth
i laughed myself then asked him "look
"you search for someone who does not exist"
he raised his brow ,then smilled and sighed
"i long for some one that can't be reached"

thanks 4 ur comment.i know my limitations,that's why requested 4 the translation of those verses by some one "who should have 'tasallut be adabiyat'",but when nobody cared to go through my request ,i dared to translate ,knowing well that i'm 'kheli kochektar az an hastam ke khodam ro "mosallat be adabiyat "bedanam. manzooram in bood ke la aqal kase in ro correct konad .'actually i love these verses 'n' just want that they should be translated in english so that those who don't know farsi can get the message of 'moulana'.
